More good alternative rock from the South emerges.
This time, Harsh Krieger is spreading some catchy alternative
rock across the nation. We caught up with Jake Harsh
to get the low-down on this rising band's success.
Harsh
Krieger is making huge waves in the alternative rock
world. Their blend of alternative rock jams with a pop
sensibility and rising melodies caught our ears here
at DiscoveringArtists.com. So we're ready to let you
in on another "next big thing."
Morphed from the surnames of founding members vocalist/rhythm
guitarist Jake Harsh and lead guitarist Jesse Krieger,
Harsh Krieger is complete with drummer Greg Costa and
bassist Chris Boyle.
With Jesse coming from playing clubs in Europe and Jake
coming from a stint with a couple of bands in Michigan,
the two musicians met at Nashville's School of Audio
Engineering in 2002 and the foundation of today's Harsh
Krieger was etched from the melding of two creative
souls.
To them, the album symbolizes "a period of life
lived," says Harsh. He says the album was recorded
with words and music, without trying to tell a story.
Their goal: to capture emotion. And so they did.
Recording the album in Nashville for about a year, the
songs were originally written by Harsh, and merged with
Krieger in various areas to add something unique.
In "Home", Harsh sings, "'I'm coming
home, just like before/Now I know I can afford to/Hold
my head high and I/I don't mind your not mine/I've got
my kind she gets me every time." The entire album
combines moving alternative rock with raw emotion. Mission
accomplished, guys.
And though they're into "anything good" according
to Harsh, he's especially digging a band called Mew.
(We're looking into them!)
Right now, the guys are looking at hitting national
airwaves, while still building a loyal an base. In New
Jersey, they're already getting airplay on G-Rock radio,
and Harsh couldn't be happier.
"It's Stations like G-rock that we have so
much respect for, because they aren't afraid to
take risks for something they believe in," says
Harsh.
They'll be hitting the West Coast in August, and are
excited about their return. For now, it's a slam line
of tour dates throughout Alabama, Tennessee and Michigan,
just to name a few.
